Pre-release playtest

Play it before it's out

Play Tornado Emergency before Early Access, keep what you see private until the embargo lifts, then say whatever you think of it. Free both ways.

Before you apply

In plain English

The agreement's own summary of itself, quoted word for word. Two of the seven sit beside the form below, because that is where they are needed.

Most applicants won't get in.

I only need a small group of testers at a time, and I expect a lot more applications than that. Applying is free and takes a few minutes, but go in expecting a "not this round" rather than counting on a slot.

What this is:
You get to play Tornado Emergency before it releases. In return, you keep what you see private until the embargo lifts, which is 7 days before the game's Early Access release on Steam. After that, you can post, stream, and talk about it freely, and we hope you will.
Until the embargo lifts:
no videos, streams, screenshots, clips, or descriptions of the game anywhere public or semi-public. You can record footage during the test and keep it for later. You can say you're a tester unless Part B says otherwise.
When it lifts:
we set the Early Access release date, either by announcing it publicly or by telling testers privately first in the tester channel. The embargo lifts automatically at 12:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time 7 days before that date. If we tell you privately, the date stays secret until we announce it, but you can prepare your content. We may lift it earlier by announcement. If the date moves, the lift moves with it, unless it has already lifted.
Say what you think:
once the embargo lifts, your opinion is yours. Positive, negative, or brutal, it is all fine. We will never ask you to take down a review because we did not like it.
What happens if you break it:
you lose access, and we can ask you to take the content down. If it causes real harm, we can pursue damages. There is no automatic fine.

Sign in with Steam to apply.

Playtest access is delivered to a Steam account, so we ask you to sign in before you apply rather than have you type the account in and hope it matches. You will come straight back to this page.

You can read the whole agreement before signing in — the summary above is the document's own, and the full PDF is linked beside this.
